Raasay Community Climate Festival

25 March 2023

Starts: 12:00
Ends: 18:00

Saturday 25 March  12.00 - 6.00

Celebrating the Carbon Neutral Islands Project, Environment & Community

There will be a range of guest speakers and workshops, a clothes swap, games and prize giveaways. Lunch will be provided and local food will be available in the evening.

The main themes include practical sustainability, reuse and recycling, home efficiency, biodiversity, active transport and climate activism. There will also be information on the Carbon Neutral Islands (CNI) Project.

The festival is hosted by the CNI Raasay project.  Contact Tom for more information.

The Carbon Neutral islands project is a Scottish Government programme supporting six islands to become carbon neutral by 2040. Raasay, together with Barra, Great Cumbrae, Hoy, Islay and Yell, has been carrying out carbon audits and developing community climate change action plans. Some of this work has involved looking at housing quality and fuel poverty in great detail. This work complements our broader Healthy Homes survey across Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh.

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
